Paul Degallerie
DJ Paul Degallerie is a producer and songwriter, as well as an actor and play and screenwriter. His DJ career reaches back to 1982. Nowadays, Paul champions and promotes the underground dance music scene.
At the age of 14 Paul Degallerie saved up his pocket money to purchase his first pair of turntables. Breaking beats became his life and he enjoyed the warm reception he received at such a young age. Immersing himself in music kept him out of trouble during adolescence too!
Born and raised in Canning Town in the East End of London, Paul’s early influences included the likes of James Brown – the godfather of Soul, Sly and the Family Stone, Isley Brothers, Miles Davis, Roy Ayres, Earth Wind and Fire; Funkadelic, Prince, Stevie Wonder and many other eclectic, obscure artists. Paul’s parents shared their extensive knowledge of music with him; his father, Clinton George Jackson, ran a sound system from the 60’s to the late 80’s. Paul was destined to follow suit; he started DJing at family parties and school discos at 14 and the rest was history!
Paul has toured internationally with Oprah Sensation, Andrea Bocelli, Heather Headley, Erik Rico, and Jean Paul Munick from the legendary band Incognito. His mission is to encourage those who don’t know about underground, obscure artists to get to know! Selecting unusual soulful, funky tracks that incorporate BrokenBeat, Nu-jazz, Hip-Hop, Roots Reggae, Lovers Rock, Ska, Soul, Funk, Boogie and Electro, Paul’s love for music saturates his sets.
