ROSIE POWELL
Rosie grew up raving in the 80’s and 90’s in South West London.
A big lover of rare groove, soul, reggae and lovers rock.
Rosie trained to become a Qualified Social Worker in some of the most challenging Boroughs in London. Feeling burnt out and in need of a change in her career. Rosie applied to work for a Major British Airline as Cabin Crew.
Travelling the world. During her time at the Airline Rosie was fortunate to consolidate her two careers and was appointed Safeguarding Officer within the Apprenticeship Team within the airline. Rosie worked for the airline for nearly 15 years. Rosie left the airline in Aug 2020. Rosie is currently an Independent Safeguarding and Diversity Trainer/Consultant.
In 2004 Rosie started Brownsugar Events. The aim was to bring People of Colour together through networking, single professionals’ meet-ups and Sista Holistic days. A platform for Women of Colour to empower themselves through workshops and retreats.
During the Pandemic. Rosie started hosting a fortnightly Sista Zoom chat to compensate for having to cancel the planned Sista Spa Weekend. This gave the Sista’s the opportunity to continue to connect and chat during this difficult time.
Rosie continues to host Sista Chat on topical issues of the day from politics to relationships, education, slavery, colourism, Black hair and current affairs. Rosie invites guest speakers to chat about their passion, be it business, charitable causes, education or health.
